Samreen Ahmed
Samreen Ahmed graduated from Lakes Community High School in 2011 and then went on to receive her bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in International Politics from DePaul University in 2015. During her time at DePaul, she was the Education Coordinator and Secretary of DePaul UMMA which is DePaul's MSA, and she was also the Muslim Interfaith Scholar at DePaul part of the Interfaith Scholars Program. After she graduated she worked as a City Year Americorps member from 2015-2016 teaching and mentoring 5th graders in English literacy and social emotional learning in the South Shore community in a Chicago Public School. She has actively studied Islam with Dr. Umar Faruq Abd-Allah, Ustadh Ubaydallah Evans and Ustadh Usama Canon through classes with Ta'leef Collective in Chicago since 2012. InshaAllah in the near future she plans to pursue her Master's Degree in Social Work and Divinity and plans to be a counselor.

Faraz Bai
Teaching Assistant 

Faraz Baig was born and raised in Columbia, SC.  He studied bioengineering at Clemson University and finished a BS/MS program in May of 2013.  After that, he moved to Illinois where he currently works in the medical device industry.  Faraz studied atSunday School programs at Masjid al-Muslimeen in South Carolina and taught elective courses at HSYC during the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years.  He is currently a teacher assistant.  Faraz can be reached aFaraz@hsycore.com.

Sarah Ahmed
Web Admin

Sarah Ahmed is a Child and Adolescent Therapist at a community mental health center. She graduated from Northwestern University with a Master's degree in Counseling. Before coming to Chicago, she grew up and studied in the beautiful fields of Indiana. She graduated in 2012 from Purdue University, with a major in Behavioral Neuroscience and minor in History. While at Purdue, she was a counselor for at ICAN Youth Foundation, a youth group for Muslim girls. Sarah taught Seerah at HSYC for two years. She can be reached at Sarah@hsycore.com.

Shahid Barkat
Shahid is currently a Systems Engineer at Cisco Systems. He graduated from Warren Township High School in 2009 and went on to graduate from Loyola University Chicago in 2013 with a major in Finance & Economics. At Loyola, he was the President of the Muslim Student Association (MSA/2012-2013). He was also the coordinator of the IFN Young Muslims (YM/2012) chapter. Amina Ashraf
Amina was raised in Columbia, SC and went to Masjid al-Muslimiin while studying under many teachers including Imam S. Muhammad Adly. She volunteered with the Weekend Islamic School from 2007-2014 as the secretary and teacher. She graduated in 2013 in psychology from the University of South Carolina and gave halaqas/tutored in Islam, Arabic and tajweed. After substituting for one year she joined the Islamic Online University's masters program. She moved to Round Lake in December 2014 after marrying Faraz Baig, and looks forward to teaching at HSYC in sha Allah! Amina can be reached at amina@hyscore.com.

Amir Siddiqui
Amir Siddiqui graduated from Northwestern University in 2007, majoring in Biological Sciences, and from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 2012. He has also completed his second year at Darul Hikmah Academy, where he studied the Hanafi fiqh, Jurisprudence, Seerah, Hadith, and Aqeedah. Some of Amir's past involvements include: President of Northwestern University's Muslim-cultural Students Association, Youth Coordinator for CAIR-Chicago, teacher for IFN Sunday School's Leadership Program, and HSYC Chair. 

Aisha Arif
Aisha Arif graduated from Northwestern University in 2007, majoring in History and English. She later completed her Masters in Education from Northwestern University in 2010 and now teaches high school history and religion courses at the Latin School of Chicago. She has also completed coursework at Darul Hikmah Academy where she studied Seerah, Jurisprudence, and Aqeedah. In the past, Aisha has served as the Executive Vice President for Northwestern University's Muslim-cultural Students Association, Financial Coordinator for the AlMaghrib Institute, and an IFN Sunday School teacher.

Noreen Nasir
Noreen Nasir graduated from Northwestern University in 2011 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and is currently a Social Media and Online Assistant at Democracy Now!. At Northwestern University, she served as Co-President of the Muslim-cultural Students Association and was on the planning committee for the University's Baccalaureate Service. Prior to joining IFN, Noreen taught Seerah and Islamic Theology at MEC Sunday School for seven years and has also participated in numerous qira'at competitions.

Aatifa Shareef
Aatifa Shareef graduated from Northwestern University in 2012, majoring in Psychology. She has attended numerous courses through Bayyinah, AlMaghrib, and Zaytuna Institutes as well as an intensive six-week long Islamic Studies course in Makkah. She previously served as the Co-President of Northwestern University's Muslim-cultural Students Association and as a teacher for the Islamic Foundation of Central Ohio, Muslim Educational Center in Morton Grove, IL, and HSYC. Aatifa most recently graduated from the Bayyinah Dream program as class valedictorian.

Ibrahim Mekki
Ibrahim Mekki is a lifelong member of the IFN community, and he started teaching at HSYC in 2011.  He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a major in Economics and a minor in English. He is currently pursuing a Masters in English Education at Columbia University. Before college he attended Al-Iman Sunday School at the Islamic Community Center in Des Plaines for many years. 

Safiya Arif
Safiya Arif is currently pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Midwestern University. She completed her pre-pharmacy coursework at Loyola University Chicago after graduating from Libertyville High School. At Loyola, she was the Co-Publicity Chair for the Muslim Students Association and a part of the Hunger Week Team for the Community Service and Action office. Safiya has studied Arabic at Loyola and completed the Qur'an Intensive program at Bayyinah Institute. She has previously served as an Islamic Studies teacher for IFN Sunday School and has been a part of the HSYC faculty for the past five years. 

Osman Jamil
Osman Jamil graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He has been part of the IFN community since before the Musjid was built and went to Libertyville High School. He is a huge Northwestern and Philadelphia sports fan and loves to play football, basketball, and soccer. His favorite book is 1984, his favorite movies are The Dark Knight and Gladiator, and his favorite TV show is Scrubs. 

Sara Fadlalla
Sara Fadlalla graduated from Northwestern University with a major in Communications Sciences and Disorders insha'Allah to eventually pursue a career in Dentistry. Sara plans on using dentistry as a way of representing herself and Islam. The Prophet (S) is often reported as smiling the most and saying, "Your smile for your brother is charity," which has always resonated with Sara. Sara always upholds a pleasant demeanor to show everyone that Islam is a religion worth smiling for, worth loving, and worth following. Insha'Allah with that mentality she plans to grow, teach, and lead a good example for everyone. Sara is also a founding member of the Women of Color Initiative at Northwestern, and an active member of Students for Justice in Palestine.

Khadija Basith
Khadija Basith graduated from Lake Forest College in 2008, majoring in Education and Mathematics. She is currently an 8th grade math teacher at Northbrook Junior High and is pursuing a Masters degree in Mathematics Education. She completed three yeas of Islamic education through Hajirah Foundation, an all-girls weekend school run by Mufti Nawar Rahman. She is currently pursuing a degree in Islamic Studies through an online program, Darul Uloom Online, whose director is Mufti Yasir Nadeem. Through this program, she is studying Arabic Grammar and Syntax, Arabic Composition, Fiqh, and Qur'an Translation. Some of Khadija's past involvements include: President of Lake Forest College's MSA, MEC Sunday School teacher, and an IFN Sunday School teacher.

AbdulRahman Basith
AbdulRahman Basith graduated from Lake Forest College in 2010, majoring in Physics. He has attended the Islamic Institute of Education in Elgin and completed his Tajweed certification at MEC in Morton Grove. Abdulrahman taught at MEC Sunday School for three years and later moved on to teach Qur'an at the IFN Sunday School for two years. He has also completed three years of study at Darul Hikmah Academy under some of the most prestigious scholars in the Chicagoland area.
